The Story of Hilltop Baptist Church

Hilltop Baptist Church began as a mission out of Calvary Baptist Church of Sherman, Texas, in May of 1977 with 17 people under the leadership of Dr. Bill Knight. Hilltop Baptist was organized as a church in October of 1978; with 122 charter members and now has grown to an active membership of over 400.

Hilltop Baptist Church is a local, independent, autonomous, visible assembly of baptized believers who meet together to worship, share the gospel, propagate the faith and celebrate the ordinances of the church, believer's baptism and the Lord's Supper. Hilltop Baptist Church practices the congregational form of church government, setting Jesus Christ Himself as the head, apart from earthly hierarchies or denominational leaders. We believe there are two scriptural offices for the New Testament church, which are pastors and deacons. See our statement of faith for more information on our Doctrinal Statement.

Enthusiasm, active participation, new programs, increase in attendance and a vision for the future have been the united heartbeat of the people of Hilltop.

Don't just watch us grow, come and grow with us!
